Katrina Kaif has worked very hard these days and with her recnt release ‘New York’ enjoying huge success, she well deserves a holiday.
Katrina says, “Akshay had his party for Kambkakkt Ishq. I want to be here for our party. It’s a very special film for all of us. And I didn’t want to miss the moment for anything. Besides, all my sisters aren’t reaching London until 14th. So I can delay by a day.”
Katrina, who is very much in a party mood is going on a 3 month long holiday where she will be with her mother, brother and sisters and will also celebrate her birthday with them. Her family has plaaned a surprise for her on her birthday and Katrina just wants to relish the suspense.
As for her holiday destination, she says, “We net-searched, googled and finally found a place we wanted to visit. It was tough because there was no place the entire family would agree on. Or if we all liked a place there was no vacancy. We finally found a place that we all liked.”
“Quite honestly I haven’t been with my whole family for a long time. I’ve been preparing for my holiday for ages. I’ve been working like a mad woman trying to finish all my work on time. It got especially hectic as the time for me to leave approached. I was dubbing for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and shooting two songs for Priyan’s De Dana Dan. At one point I thought I wouldn’t finish on time. But I did. And I’m really looking forward to my time with my family.”

SRK bangaya doctor

Check out Shahrukh Khan receiving honorary doctorate for his outstanding contribution in arts and culture from famous University of Berdfordshire situated in London.
SRK says,“My wife is here too. She thinks being a doctor is really serious stuff. Of all my achievements as an actor, this one is a special achievement.”
“I will entertain like Walt Disney where he says I will entertain and help people learn. But if you are asking if I will make films to teach people ABC then I doubt it, you won’t see them. But I will make films that people can go and see for three hours and then come back and study hard for their exams.”
“On one wall, where I have my personal desk, where I keep my scripts, I have the Padmashri, the French honour, the Malaysiann honour and this one will also go there. The Filmfare awards are in front of me so I am like a megalomaniac, self-centered person who likes to be surrounded by his awards.”
Congratulations, Dr.SRK

Shahid is like Aamir: Amole

Shahid Kapoor is going to portray the most difficult of his life till now, where he plays the role of twins- one who stammer and other who lisps.
Amole Gupte, who is playing the role of villain in Kaminey says, “When Shahid played Guddu, who stammers, he completely internalized all of the character’s traits, including the stammer, so the character doesn’t end up looking like a caricature.”
Shahid stayed on the sets throughout and did not retreat into his vanity van to keep absorbing the ambience and the sweaty milieu in which Guddu and Charlie had to function in their own separate ways. I know that Pankaj works in the same way. I truly believe that Shahid has inherited his father’s ability and style of performing without appearing to act. It is definitely in his genes. When you’re facing the camera with a co-star, you become compatriots in the canvas of characterization. I was startled by Shahid’s passion for excellence. I saw the same quality in Aamir Khan (Taare Zameen Par).”
So do we see another perfectionist in the making?

Jackson custody hearing rescheduled again

CNN) -- A custody hearing for singer Michael Jackson's children scheduled for Monday has been pushed back for a second time.

From left: Prince Michael Jackson II, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson and Michael Joseph Jackson Jr.

The hearing, which was originally scheduled for July 6, has been rescheduled for July 20 at the request of Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and Jackson's former wife Debbie Rowe.
Rowe is the biological mother of two of Jackson's children -- 12-year-old Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., also known as Prince Michael, and 11-year-old Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson. Jackson's third child, Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II, was carried by a surrogate mother, whose name has not yet been released.
Katherine Jackson was given temporary guardianship of the children by a judge several days after her son's death.
According to Michael Jackson's will filed in 2002, he wanted his children to be cared for by his mother. If Katherine Jackson, 79, is not living, Jackson said in the will, "I nominate Diana Ross as guardian."
Ross, star of the Motown singing group the Supremes, met Jackson when he was a 9-year-old sensation. The two performed together over the years and Jackson told an interviewer in 1982 he considered Ross to be one of his true personal friends.
Jackson specifically left Rowe out of his will.
Rowe reportedly signed away her parental rights to the children after she and Jackson divorced in 1999, but an appeals court re-established her parental status in 2006.

‘Kambakkht Ishq’: Hollywood meets Bollywood

Hollywood actors are finally heading East, said Anushka Asthana in the Guardian. Kambakkht Ishq (Damn Love), directed by Akshay Kumar—who "to half the world's population" is "more famous than Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and Bruce Willis put together"—was filmed at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and features appearances by Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards. It "marks the first time that Hollywood's leading stars have appeared alongside their Indian counterparts in a Bollywood blockbuster," and it's a perfect "example of the growing desire among Western actors, companies and financiers for a piece of India's" multi-billion-dollar entertainment industry. (watch the trailer for Kambakkht Ishq)Hollywood does seem "to have discovered Bollywood," said Mumtaj Begum in the Malaysia Star, but "Bollywood appears just as eager to get to know Hollywood." The "huge success of Slumdog Millionaire" illustrates the West's interest in Eastern culture, and opens up a whole new market for Indian filmmakers. And "one of the main reasons Los Angeles was chosen as a backdrop" for Kambakkht Ishq is because it's "the home of all things glamorous and glitzy," which has appeal to those in the East.Kambakkht Ishq is a perfect example of why Bollywood should not try to cater to Western audiences, said Tinselgurus. It's a "dumb" movie full of "cheesy" dialogue, "sexual connotations," scantily clad women, and offensive language—"the heroine and hero refer to each other as 'dog' and 'bitch.'" Hollywood already cranks out enough movies like that; Bollywood directors don't need to start doing it, too. "Bollywood is Bollywood" and "Hollywood is Hollywood"—let's keep it that way.

Work pressure takes a toll on Priyanka Chopra’s health

Priyanka Chopra is overworked these days. She has three back-to-back releases this month, Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘What’s Your Rashee?” and Jugal Hansraj’s ‘Pyaar Impossible’. She is playing 12 different roles in ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ (just as Kamal Hassan did in ‘Dashaavataar’ or what Sanjeev Kapoor essayed in ‘Naya Din Nayi Raat’). Not to mention here that this kind of work demanded too much of hard work and dedication from the lady.
As a result, Priaynka’s health has suffered and she has been in and out of hospital quite frequently these days. Her mother, Dr. Madhu Chopra, is supervising her diet these days and she is under strict instructions from her that she should have home-cooked meals. So, Priyanka carries her own food even when she is in five star hotels.
Once her schedule eases, Priyanka wants to take a good break. “I am going to take sleeping pills and wake up after three days, “she says.

Jackson Docs Not Cooperating, Coroner Claims

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ two doctors who treated Michael Jackson have not been forthcoming with their medical records.Sources say Dr. Arnold Klein and Dr. Conrad Murray have not turned over the medical records the L.A. County Coroner's office has requested. We're told both doctors have turned over some records, but the coroner's office has not gotten the complete file from either doctor. And there's this ... We've learned a driver for Michael Jackson told coroner's officials shortly after Jackson's death that the singer was going to Dr. Klein's office multiple times a week in the months preceding his death and sometimes would spend 3 to 4 hours inside. The driver told coroner's officials Jackson appeared disoriented when he left Klein's office. This is consistent with what a bodyguard told Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies in 2004 ... when Jackson left the offices of Klein and other doctors.

Kangana Ranaut handles her breakup in a mature manner

She is hardly over with her breakup with Shekhar Suman’s son, Adhyayan Suman, and she is being linked with Puri Jagannath, the director of one of the South films she is working in. Kangana is obviously quite upset with the rumors and says, “I should free myself from my last experience. I need to be ready to fall in love again. Why can’t people imagine somebody single for sometime?”
Kangana and Adhyayan, both have handled their breakup in a mature manner. They had no ugly exchange of words and the parting was as respectful as should be.

T thought it was a nightmare but on second thoughts, I understand. I too dissuade my younger brother from being In a relationship at this age.”
Adhyayan too states that he decided to end this relationship just because he needs to focus on his career which is just one film old right now. States Adhyayan, “I can’t afford to mess it up. I haven’t taken my father’s help and neither have I told him to make a film for me. I’m doing it all for myself. I don’t want to take a chance. Kareena Kapoor is on a high these days. Not only is she the reigning Bollywood style diva, she has many leading endorsement brands in her kitty. Her latest release ‘Kambakkth Ishq’ has received a grand opening at the box-office.

Michael Jackson memorial draws 31.1 million U.S. TV viewers

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - More than 31 million Americans watched the public memorial for Michael Jackson live on television -- well below the TV audience for former U.S. President Ronald Reagan's burial and the funeral of Britain's Princess Diana.
Nielsen Media Research said on Wednesday that Jackson's two-hour memorial in Los Angeles was carried live on Tuesday by 18 U.S. television networks and cable channels, drawing an audience of 31.1 million.
Although the figure did not include millions more who are thought to have watched on the Internet or in replays, the audience paled in comparison to the 37.8 million who watched a full day of President Barack Obama's inauguration in January, and the 49.5 million Americans who tuned in for Obama's first White House news conference in February.
Internet company Akamai, which handles 20 percent of the world's Web traffic, reported on Tuesday that it ran some 2.8 million audio and video streams during the Jackson memorial webcast, making it the most widely viewed on the Internet since Obama's inauguration.
Singers Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson and Usher were among artists who performed for some 18,000 fans, family and friends of the singer in the emotional two-hour tribute at the Staples Center arena.
Giving comparisons for other recent major televised funerals, Nielsen said the Jackson memorial audience ranked third on U.S. TV after Reagan's burial (35 million) in 2004 and the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 (33.2 million).
It was also just ahead of the 30.6 million in 2005 who tuned in to learn that Jackson had been acquitted on child molestation and other charges after a four-month trial.
Live television audience figures in the United States have slipped in recent years as Americans watch more recorded TV and live streaming on the Internet, mobile phones and other platforms.

'Harry Potter' Stars, Then and Now

Sure, they're taller than they were when they first enrolled in that school, but they're still students, with much to learn in matters of sorcery and sexuality, half-hatched creatures seeking some direction.
It's a romantic illusion. And if fans want to buy into it, they should probably not pay attention to the stars' real lives.
They talk about their willingness to get naked in the name of art (Emma Watson), they actually get naked in the name of art (Daniel Radcliffe), and they get hit with swine flu (Rupert Grint).
For adolescent actors, all of that's normal. For wizards in training, not so much. Shouldn't Grint's alter ego, Ron Weasley, be able to slay the H1N1 virus with his magic wand? For that matter, shouldn't Jamie Waylett, who plays Hogwarts' tough guy Vincent Crabbe, be able to banish charges of illegally growing 10 cannabis plants?
Just kidding, of course. But the fact remains: The children who debuted in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in 2001 and went on to appear in all five sequels have grown into characters that don't always jibe with the personalities J.K. Rowling's books gave them.

Jackson West End show world tour

Michael Jackson tribute show Thriller Live will go on a 12-month world tour in response to huge demand from the late star's fans, its producers have said.
Thriller Live has been touring the UK since 2006 and is currently part-way through a successful run in London's West End.
Now a new production of the show will be performed worldwide, starting in Munich in Germany on July 21 and taking in most other European countries before travelling to the US.
At the same time it will continue its run at the Lyric Theatre in the West End, which was recently extended until January next year.
Producer Paul Walden said: "Since the tragic news from Los Angeles broke, we have been amazed by the reaction of the fans around the globe, and inquiries for Thriller Live to appear worldwide have been overwhelming.
"Against this background it seems clear that what Michael's fans want right now is to celebrate his life by continuing to listen to his music and to have a way to celebrate his legacy.
"We can think of no greater tribute to the memory of this global superstar than to continue to celebrate his life and his music as we have done for the past three years in Thriller Live."
Dates for the Thriller Live tour have already been confirmed in Barcelona, Cologne, Zurich, Vienna, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Helsinki and Berlin.
Further performances will be announced soon, including dates in the US.

Michael Jackson Dominates Billboard Charts

In the second week after his death, King of Pop's records flew off shelves.

Michael Jackson fans paid tribute to the King of Pop the best way they knew how last week: by buying his music. In the first full week following the death of Jackson at age 50, and with retailers fully prepared for the onslaught of buyers, the fallen pop idol sold an astonishing 800,000 solo albums, dominating the charts in a way not seen since his heyday in the early 1980s.
According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Jackson's sales nearly doubled from the week before, with his music occupying all 10 spots on the Top Catalog Albums chart, led by Number Ones, which sold 339,000 copies, a 215 percent increase from the previous week. Unlike the reporting period ending June 28 (just four days after Jackson's death), this time retailers had a chance to stock up, so physical albums represented 82 percent of MJ's sales, nearly double the figure from the previous one, according to Billboard.
Jackson's iconic Thriller album sold 187,000 copies (an 86 percent increase from the week before). The Essential Michael Jackson comes in at #3 with sales of 125,000, followed by Off the Wall (51,000), Dangerous (26,000), Bad (23,000), a Jackson 5 compilation (10,000), a solo Ultimate Collection (just under 10,000), his final solo album, Invincible (8,000), and Greatest Hits HIStory, Vol. 1 at #10 (close to 8,000).
Jackson's albums dominated the Top Pop Catalog charts, which tracks albums that are more than 18 months old and don't have a current single on the radio. Though the discs were not eligible for inclusion on the Top 200 albums chart, the top two Jackson titles easily bested that chart's top album, the Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. 31 compilation, which logged 169,000 in sales.
Jackson also dominated on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart, with five out of the top 10 slots. The song that has become Jackson's unofficial theme in death, "Man in the Mirror," sold 159,000 copies, coming in just behind the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling." Overall, Jackson songs sold at a clip of 2.2 million downloads over the past week, just a shade under the 2.6 million that moved in the days after his death. In light of the all-star tribute to Jackson on Tuesday at Los Angeles' Staples Center, the singer's music is likely to dominate the charts again next week, especially if digital singles of performances from Mariah Carey, Usher, Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson are released this week.

King of Pop's little princess, Paris Jackson, brave in spotlight at father Michael's memorial

LOSANGELES - The accolade that would have meant more than anything to Michael Jackson, the moment everyone will best remember, came at the end when his 11-year-old daughter, Paris, spoke the first public words of her life before the whole world.
"I just wanted to say ..." she began.
"Speak up, sweetheart, speak up," her aunt Janet Jackson softly said.
Paris continued, her left hand trembling on the microphone, her right clutching the stand.
" ... ever since I was born ..."
Her left hand went to the back of her neck and her face constricted in pain, but she continued.
" ... Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine."
She paused and her head bowed.
She breathed in twice, fighting back sobs.
She kept on with this spectacularly brave act of total devotion for the father who lay in the rose-covered coffin before the stage where she stood. She was steadied in his love for her and propelled by all she felt for him.
"And I just wanted to say I love him so much," she said.
She turned into her aunt's embrace. Her older brother, 12-year-old Prince Michael, stepped over, joining in, his face full of that same love, for his father, for his sister, for their family.
The youngest, 7-year-old Prince Michael II, also known as Blanket, also was on stage and he showed some courage of his own as he lowered the memorial program he had been peering over.
He gazed out at the crowd and the cameras as if he felt almost safe in this moment where the world saw his daddy as he and his siblings had always seen him.
After a week of spectacle, this courageous little girl had presented us with a moment of immaculate truth. Other tears streaked the faces of fans who had trooped into the Staples Center as if it were as much a pop concert as a memorial.
They had cheered earlier in the service when Michael Jackson was called the greatest entertainer of all time, but they went absolutely still when they heard his daughter call him "Daddy."
Paris had made unmistakably clear that however eccentric the world may have viewed him, Michael Jackson was at his very core a daddy who loved his kids and whose kids loved him.
The King of Pop turned out to be the opposite of so many would-be kings of political life who present a veneer of absolute normalcy and turn out to have sordid private lives.
Jackson had proven to be the real family man at heart. And you have to wonder if that is part of his power as an artist all along.
From his earliest years, Jackson composed and sang and danced with all his being, tapping the part of himself that was the source of all true feeling and touching that same part in others. Read more

Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

After the relentless bang-boom-crash of summer sequels like Transformers and Terminator , the sixth Harry Potter film comes as something of a relief for those seeking a little more humanity, even if it is of the magical variety.
Lord Voldemort has returned, dark forces lurk beyond the enchanted gates of Hogwarts School - while teenage hormones rage within.
The regular cast is back, with the addition of Jim Broadbent as the Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn, whose memories are key in the battle against the Dark Lord.
"This is very dark stuff, very dark indeed."

So says Slughorn, in one of the story's flashbacks to Voldemort's childhood.
This really is a film with little daylight. Gone are the sun-kissed Quidditch pitches of the early movies. More than ever, Hogwarts seems in the grip of an eternal winter.
And let's not forget those hormones dripping down the castle walls.
Bridge attack
Director David Yates, staying on after 2007's Order of the Phoenix, has thrown his energies into the lavish visuals and the emotional landscape.
Those wanting noisy spectacle and endless action will be disappointed. This is a talky Potter.
It feels long - but not in a bad way. The main characters and the complex plot get a chance to breathe.
Writer Steve Kloves sensibly excises the padding from JK Rowling's novel - adding new scenes such as the opening attack on London's Millennium Bridge.

The film opens with a dramatic attack on London's Millennium Bridge
But Death Eater attacks aside, relationships are what interests Yates.
Even when we first meet Harry in a cafe at Surbiton station, he is effortlessly catching the eye of a waitress.
"Harry, you need a shave my friend," says Dumbledore later, as if we need reminding that the boy Harry is becoming a man.

Dark streak

For fans of old-school Potter, there are plenty of familiar ingredients: Hogwarts Express (check), Quidditch (check), Marauder's Map (check), exploding potions (check) - even Madam Pomfrey in the hospital wing.
Of more interest, however, is what's different: Tom Felton gets a chance to do more than sneer as the tortured Draco Malfoy, Alan Rickman's Snape comes to the fore, and even Rupert Grint gets to act beyond his usual Ron Weasley persona (he gets a snog, at least).

The stars are already filming the final two instalments in the series
Broadbent, as you might expect, is excellent as Slughorn, the dotty professor with a dark streak.
While there are plentiful flashes of humour, it is the gothic horror that lingers in the memory - although werewolf Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno) is sadly underused.
It is perhaps inevitable that the sixth film - like the sixth book - feels like it is setting up the grand finale. If slightly muted in places, Half-Blood Prince shows every sign that Yates will deliver something special for the two-part Deathly Hallows in 2010/11.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is released on 15 July

Ostrow: Jackson rite saturates new media

The notion of "wall to wall" gained new meaning Tuesday with entertainer Michael Jackson's memorial service.
Newer technology, including online streams, live blogging and Twitter, expanded media coverage exponentially, and the audience swelled far beyond the mourners, celebrities and common citizens who packed into Los Angeles' Staples Center.
Reporters in Moscow covering President Barack Obama's state visit watched CNN International coverage. European TV outlets cleared their prime-time slates. Hulu, My Space and Facebook live-streamed the event. Ditto for satellite radio.
"It's probably the biggest media event, the biggest Internet event, ever, frankly," CNN gushed.
Pondering the pope, politicians and other celebrities, ABC's Charles Gibson concluded Jackson "may be the most famous person in the world."
Network coverage overall was respectful but professional, not buying into hagiography.
The global brand of Michael Jackson snarled online traffic as it had Los Angeles streets, and was expected to test the very infrastructure of the Internet.
Denver tweeters contributed. Among their wide-ranging posts: the death of michael jackson has officially crossed over the "bizarre" line. newsflash: he was a singer, not god — mollydooker... Okay, I'm trying to be cynical about the Michael Jackson memorial and I just can't be. It is touching. — LaRosaLoca
For media analysts, the familiar chicken-and- egg question arose: Was the country clamoring for news of a dead celebrity, or did the media fuel interest to justify extended coverage?
"It's not necessarily that there's more public interest, but there's more opportunity for the public to express its interest," said S. Robert Lichter of the Center for Media and Public Affairs in Fairfax, Va. "Social media magnify the effect of the traditional media."
Like many media traditionalists, he found that prospect depressing. "I mean, there are riots in China," Lichter said.
While news outlets indulged and hyped public fascination, certain aspects of Jackson's life — the criminal trial on molestation charges and "personal predilections," as ABC's Martin Bashir put it — were dutifully referenced.
The comparison is inevitable: Another music icon who died just before a planned comeback tour, Elvis Presley, received far different media treatment in death. In 1977, when he similarly had become a caricature of himself, Elvis was too modestly memorialized in print and on TV.
That was years before the explosion of celebrity culture, before CNN launched the 2 4/7 news cycle, before the birth of interactive media technologies.
The numbers are still out on how many people watched Jackson's memorial, but the online audience was expected to rival that of Obama's inauguration, another daytime event witnessed by many on computers at work.
Going forward, does the Jackson coverage become more affectionate, more about the music and less about the "freakish things"? asked NBC's Brian Williams, covering his bases.
"We have to cover all aspects of what made him famous and infamous," Lester Holt replied.

supermodel, stuntman and Hollywood stars

The box office is on a roll after a long lull thanks to Kabir Khan's New York that got a good opening at the box office. Now the Hindi film industry is pinning its hopes on Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor's much-hyped romantic comedy Kambakkht Ishq to keep the cash registers ringing.
Made at a budge of Rs.40-45 crores (Rs.400-450 million), the film was extensively shot at Universal Studios in Hollywood as well as in Italy and Mumbai. This Bollywood extravaganza also has much publicised cameos by Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards.
Co-produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Sunil A. Lulla, the film has been directed by debutante Sabbir Khan and also has Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora in pivotal roles.
The movie's highlight is the Akshay-Kareena chemistry and mind-blowing actions. The 41-year-old actor, who plays a swashbuckling stuntman in Hollywood in the film, has gone whole hog and done death defying stunts himself.
"This is a film for the masses but with a rich international feel to it that would break the mass versus class barrier. We have the best of both the worlds in the film with Kareena playing a supermodel. The Akshay-Kareena combination is the one to watch out for," Nadiadwala had told IANS.
Kambakkht Ishq explores the relationship between two individuals who are completely opposite in nature. Viraj (Akshay) is a stuntman in Hollywood who detests women, while Simrita Rai (Kareena) is a part-time supermodel and doesn't believe in love. The two meet but they love to hate each other especially because of Simrita's waspish tongue. But the turn of events forces them to be together as Simrita's best friend Kamini and Viraj's brother Lucky decide to get married.
Simrita and Viraj try to stop the wedding, but they end up falling in love with each other instead.
"Both the producer and I dreamt big and we sort of took a simple and interesting story and made it larger than life," said the director.
Kambakkht Ishq is releasing with 2,000 prints across the globe. It is an important film for Akshay as his much-publicised last two releases - Chandni Chowk To China and 8X10 Tasveer - turned out to be duds.
"I'm expecting great response for this film. Though I had worked very hard in Chandni Chowk... , the response didn't turn out to be as expected. Some people and critics didn't like it and '8X10 Tasveer' was more like an art film, which has a niche market in India. Kambakkht Ishq is a complete entertainer and I hope the audience appreciates it," Akshay said.
He says the length and the budget of the film is reasonable.
"It's a reasonable budget (film) around Rs.45-50 crore and is in the similar range as Chandni Chowk To China or a Singh Is Kinng. (And) we won't take much of your time. The film boasts of some power-packed entertainment in two hours and 15 minutes. I guess that is quite reasonable for a film of this scale," he said.
Apart from a diverse promotional strategy, the advance booking for the film opened Sunday instead of a Wednesday for other films.
With the unprecedented buzz and the huge star cast, the film is expected to lend a hand in reviving the box office.

Jackson's Casket Expected at Memorial Service

Tuesday, July 7, 2009; 8:54 AM
Michael Jackson's casket will be front and center during his star-studded memorial service today at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the entertainment Web site TMZ reported this morning.
The news sparked a frenzy of excitement among the anchors of the morning infotainment shows, all of which were broadcasting from outside the Staples Center in the pre-dawn darkness in order to capture the magnitude of the event.
The possible physical presence of the remains of the King of Pop -- who died suddenly and suspiciously last week at age 50 -- raises the specter that "crowd control could become an even bigger issue," said "Today" host Meredith Vieira.
There was no way to independently confirm whether, in fact, The Casket will be onstage with the performers as the Land of La-La says ta-ta to Jackson, one of the best-known and most controversial entertainers ever. But TMZ, you'll recall, has been leaving the traditional media mostly in the dust since it was the first to report Jackson had collapsed at his rented Holmby Hills mansion on June 25.
Family spokesperson Ken Sunshine, interviewed by Viera, refused to confirm or deny the casket reports -- as did Al Sharpton, interviewed a short time later. But Sunshine did want Meredith to know that the Jackson family "has shown extraordinary dignity in a very emotional time" and that "Michael Jackson is the biggest figure emitting love ever."
"Has anybody been to a wedding or family event when a Michael Jackson or Jackson Five song came on it wasn't the highlight of the event?" Sunshine asked rhetorically.
Activity was spotted late Monday at the Forest Lawn Cemetery involving the Jackson family, the Associated Press reported. Jackson's family was expected to hold a private funeral there. Los Angeles TV station KCAL-TV showed helicopter footage of a hearse backing up to the Hall of Liberty -- a circular building at the cemetery that contains a 1,200 seat auditorium -- to deliver a casket, the AP added. And, a few hours later, the casket was reloaded into the hearse and delivered to another nearby building, this time covered in a blue cloth.
Fox News Channel showed aerial shots of a hearse at Forest Lawn where, the channel reported, a private family ceremony was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. local time. After that, Fox said, the family would "make the 13-mile journey" to Staples Center.
To help viewers understand how rich the soil is at Forest Lawn, the channel broadcast images of the faux headstones in which the names of other celebrities buried there had been "engraved" -- names like Bette Davis, Buster Keaton, Liberace and Andy Gibb.
"You would think that the family wants to end this with a bang," "Today" show correspondent Michael Owku, stationed at Forest Lawn, told Meredith Vieira. "They want to have a great big surprise for all the fans and all the friends that will be gathering there at Staples Center, and what bigger surprise than to suddenly have the casket of Michael Jackson up on stage for the last time?"
There is also no way to really fathom how many of the devoutly adoring and the simply curious will watch the service, which will be broadcast around the globe. But that didn't stop the industry of celebrity navel gazers from forecasting the audience at an estimated 1 billion -- more than one out of every seven people on earth.
Mariah Carey, Usher, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, and Jennifer Hudson are among those confirmed to participate in the service, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. local time (1 p.m. in Washington). Sean "P Puff Diddy Daddy" Combs and Brooke Shields also said they would attend. But Jackson's BFF Elizabeth Taylor announced to the world she's staying away today, because her grief is not a public event.
At least 16 domestic TV networks plan to cover the Jackson memorial live. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, Fox News Channel, CNN, CNN Headline News, MSNBC, TV One, MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic, TV Guide Channel, E!, Univision and Telemundo blew out their schedules in hopes that live coverage of the biggest celebrity ever would bring boffo ratings. (When the verdict was read on the Jackson child-abuse trial back in June of 2005, about 31 million tuned in domestically -- nearly matching the 33 million who watched Princess's Di's funeral in this country in September of '97.)
Los Angeles police are steeled for a mob scene even after warning that fans would not be able to get within blocks of the arena, where oversize murals and enormous screens have been set up outside as part of the mega-tribute. Authorities were urging people to stay away from the venue and watch the memorial on TV.
CNN's Kara Finnstrom, deployed to check out the John Does who'd spend the night on the streets in order to be near the memorial, reported that 300 police officers were on the scene by 5 a.m. Pacific time. LAPD told her that number would increase to around 3,000 by the time the memorial kicked off five hours later -- the biggest police presence downtown since Los Angeles hosted the Summer Olympics.
Vendors arrived early to stake out the best spots to sell hot dogs, bottled water and all manner of Jackson memorabilia.
Nearly 2 million people had registered in hopes of snagging some of the precious 20,000 seats at the Staples Center, of whom under 9,000 were picked to get two tickets each. About 9,000 seats in the arena have been set aside for Jackson family and friends
Television's morning news shows -- in addition to "Today," there was ABC's "Good Morning America," CBS's "The Early Show" and CNN's "American Morning" -- anchored their entire broadcasts from outside the Staples Center, even though it was still the middle of the night -- and quite dark -- on the West coast.
And about 50 movie theaters nationwide, owned by Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp, planned to carry the memorial live and offer free admission.
Meanwhile, Jackson's Facebook page was clocking up to around 20 new fans per second, and was hovering around the 7 million mark -- making it the most popular page on the social media outlet.

‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince’ London Photocall: Red Carpet Recap

With “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” having been wrapped for almost a year promotion of the film seems long overdue. Stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and more made an appearance today at London’s Claridge’s Hotel which marks the beginning of a series of worldwide premieres and photo ops before the film’s July 15 opening — something Hollywood Crush is very excited to be following!
Maybe it was in rebellion to the film’s delayed release, or maybe because it wasn’t a red carpet affair (it was actually more of a brown, mosaic carpet), but those who attended the photocall dressed casual.
Click on the pic below to see snapshots from the event and keep reading for more on the “Half-Blood Prince” London Photocall after the jump.

The older crowd: producers David Barron and David Heyman, stars Michael Gambon (almost unrecognizable as Dumbledore without his beard!) and Jim Broadbent (slightly more recognizable as new Hogwarts professor, Horace Slughorn) and director David Yates dressed formally yet comfortably, with an array of button-up shirts, blazers and dress pants.
The young stars of the film had more variety. Tom Felton, who has grown up so much since “Sorcerer’s Stone,” and Bonne Wright stayed low-key, rocking black tops and dress jeans, but newcomer Jessie Cave’s green leggings and yellow-and-black stockings look like something she stole from wardrobe in support of a Gryffindor Quidditch match.
Emma Watson looked classy as ever with her cute skirt outfit, while Rupert Grint sporting the rocker look we’ve been seeing in the past few years. (Though his boots look as out of place as Kristen Stewart’s Converses we saw at this year’s Movie Awards!)

Daniel Radcliffe seems to be continuing the trend he started when he joined the cast of “Equus” by trying to act as un-Harry-Potter-like as possible. But since when does trying to not look like Harry Potter mean you have to dress up like, er, Pete Wentz?
Judging from the premieres of the past, we can expect more color and variety from the stars as they continue to promote “Half-Blood Prince” in the final two weeks before its release, but a few words of advice to the ladies of “Harry Potter:” For the sake of your male castmates, try not to wear heels quite so high.
What do you think of the pictures from the “Half-Blood Prince” photocall?

Michael Jackson by the Numbers

Even in death, the King of Pop continues to shatter long-standing records.

The desire by Michael Jackson fans to know more about the singer's death reverberated on the Internet, breaking records for Web site traffic and digital downloads.(ABC News Photo Illustration)
From the moment the world learned the tragic news, the volume of people converging on the Internet was so great it nearly put major news, search and social networking sites out of commission.
In the following days, as fans searched for information, listened to music and exchanged memories, the online activity only continued to build, breaking records for Web site traffic and digital downloads.
"It was a global event. The impact was felt around the world at the same instant, a moment in time that led to absolutely everyone in the world going to the Web," said Peter Cashmore, founder of the social media blog Mashable, about Michael Jackson's death.
Though other celebrities died that week, none had the same international appeal as Jackson, he pointed out.

The person has been using the mail ID: shahid.kapoor@gmail.com and has made everyone believe that he is real Shahid. When Shahid was tagged as the sexiest vegetarian in Asia, the person posted a humble “Thank You” message on ‘Twitter’ and these days he was seen expressing concern and apprehensive excitement over the release of his forthcoming ‘Kaminey’ and was even found discussing the movie’s release date.

Kangana Ranaut desires for grandchildren

The last thing one would expect out of nubile and sexy Kangana Ranaut would be to desire for grandchildren, but it is true that the gorgeous gal does not have romantic desires while shooting at the exotic and picturesque locales of Switzerland. Instead, the atmosphere there makes her long for children and grandchildren.
Commenting on the shooting location, Kangana said, “All I can see here are old couples spending time with their children and grandchildren. It makes me long for grandchildren.”
Moreover, since the scenery of Switzerland bears a similarity to her hometown, Manali, Kangana feels homesick and misses her family and home as she is on a long shooting schedule abroad

Ajay Devgan’s generous gift to Bipasha Basu

How far could a producer go in taking care of the wishes of the leading lady of his film? Well, he could at least gift a new mobile phone. This is exactly what producer Ajay Devgan has done for Bipasha Basu who has just finished shooting for Ajay Devgan’s comedy ‘All The Best’ in Goa this week.
Bipasha had worked really hard with most sincere efforts for Ajay’s film. She not only worked late at night and early in the mornings, she also kept the phone switched off during the shooting thus cutting off from everyone including beau John Abraham who has hurt his legs. Bipasha also agreed to do an additional role in ‘All The Best’ without extra charges. When Ajay came to know that Bips wanted a Blackberry phone, he thought it would be just the right move to show his appreciation for her dedication.
Says the actress, “Yeah, Ajay knew I wanted it. In fact it was he who got me interested in. It is actually a gift in appreciation for working long hours and changing at lightning speed between shots when we had loads of work to finish. Ajay is a fabulous producer and co-star.”
Bipasha is all ga-ga for her new phone and says, “I love it! I’m going totally crazy with it. Though I’ve no numbers on it and am trying to figure it out, I just can’t get enough of it.”

google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
Imran had shown some action packed sequences in ‘Kidnap’ post his romantic role in ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, but ‘Luck’ would be an out and out action movie for Imran where he will be seen displaying martial arts.
Imran has just finished his long shooting schedule for the film in Cape Town and the producer had already arranged for his martial arts training sessions long before the shooting schedule. However, Imran had been busy with the promotion of his films and could not go through a proper training. Nevertheless, there was already a special trainer for him on his arrival at Cape Town and Imran left no stones unturned in going through rigorous training in order to get perfection in his action steps. He also worked out a lot on his physique for his role in this particular film. Your browser may not support display of this image.

Shiney Ahuja case - Police reports confirm rape

Shiney Ahuja’s controversial rape case has taken everyone by shock. An additional key to the unsolved mystery is that according to the police reports on Monday, the DNA test reports have confirmed Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja had raped his domestic maid even as he moved a court for bail. The victim is from Roha in Raigad district and her medical examination shows injury in private parts and also the blood and urine samples of Ahuja said that he was not under alcohol or drugs when he committed the crime.
According to the Additional Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, “The DNA report has confirmed rape of the victim. The report has corroborated the allegations in the FIR that the actor had raped his domestic help.”

Fardeen Khan indulges into some fist fight with sister’s boyfriend

The demise of his father, Feroz Khan has been hard for Fardeen Khan who got into some fist fight with sister Laila’s boyfriend at a late night get-together of family members at a bar of a five star hotel in Andheri East. The party included Fardeen, his wife Natasha, sister Laila, her boyfriend Farhan Furniturewala, Farah Ali Khan and DJ Aqeel.
Media reports say that Fardeen and Farhan got into a heated argument which later turned into exchange of blows but Fardeen denies such story saying that he and Farhan were discussing about their favorite WWF wrestlers and decided to show each other some of their wrestling moves.
Farhan, on the other hand, admits that there was a petty argument and that Fardeen over-reacted a bit.
Given the tough times the actor is facing, we don’t blame Fardeen much.

Kalki Koechlin oozing sensuality in ‘Filmfare’

Remember Kalki Koechlin? The same girl who debuted with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Dev.D’ where she played the character of Chandramukhi. This Indian actress with French descent has also done some modeling assignments for smaller screen. Though she is well versed in Tamil, English and French, she had to learn Hindi for her role in Dev.D.
Kalki got rave reviews for her performance in Dev D. Hindustan Times read, “Kalki shows sparks in the scenes. Enter Chanda, the multilingual call girl who can seduce in Hindi, Tamil, English and French. With her bee-stung lips, unusual face and refreshing lack of acting guile, Kalki Koechlin imbues the part with a touching fragility.”
Kalki has also won the Hindu metro playwright award 2009 along with Prashant Prakash for their co-authored entry ‘Skeleton Woman.’ She had also acted in the play “Hair” directed by Ajaykrishnan.

Kareena Kapoor goes de-glam for ‘3 Idiots’

On one hand where Kareena Kapoor will be seen in a super glam avatar for ‘Kambakkth Ishq’, she sports a completely de-glam or you could say a geeky look for Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ where she plays the role of Neha, the professor’s daughter, from the book ‘Five Point Someone’. Aamir Khan, on the other hand, would be playing the handsome and genius Ryan. Sharman Joshi plays the role of Alok and Madhavan will be Hari, who adores Ryan and wants to be like him.
The cast and crew were in New Delhi at Connaught Place for the shoot of the film where Kareena was spotted wearing spectacles and Aamir was seen handling a strange machine named ‘virus inverter’.
The crew has already shot in Shimla, Ladakh, Bangalore and Mumbai. When they shot at the Pangong Lake in Ladakh which is 13,900 feet above sea level, Kareena went breathless due to the lack of oxygen.
“We had little oxygen, no electricity and no hot water. On top of that, I was in a wedding ghagra-choli outfit in that freezing cold, can you imagine! The wind almost swept me off my feet,” said Kareena.
To protect herself from the freezing cold, Kareena wore thermal heating along with her outfit. “But that was of very little help. Finally the unbearable cold was all worth it for a wonderful film. The boys (Aamir and Madhavan) were great fun. And Raju Hirani is a gem.”

Vivek Oberoi set to prove himself a ‘Prince’ once again

Vivek Oberoi is all geared up to take the Bollywood with storm. He has three quite promising projects in hand right now. One is Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Rakta Charitra’ where he is playing the role of Paritala Ravi, then there is Renzil D’Silva’s ‘Jehaad’, a romantic thriller against the backdrop of global terrorism and finally he has Kumar Taurani’s ‘Prince’ where he will be seen romancing three heroines. The name of the actresses has been kept undisclosed but what is known is that Vivek has performed some breathtaking stunts and action sequences for the film. Vivek is said to take off leaps from a plane, has jumped from high cliffs during his shots at Manikaran in Himachal Pradesh and even shot his fight sequences bare handed amidst the freezing river and rode rafts in strong currents. The action sequences have been directed by Allan Amin. Directed by Kookie Gulati and produced by Tips films, ‘Prince’ will hit the theatres on December 11.
“The experience of making ‘Prince’ has been truly amazing. We are very confident that the movie will appeal to all audiences and will perform well at the box-office,’ said Kumar Taurani, managing director of Tips Films.
With so many promising projects in hand and the dedication which Vivek is putting in, it seems that the actor is all set for a second golden inning.

Chirpy Priyanka Chopra tweets on ‘Twitter’

With the aim of promoting her forthcoming movie, ‘Kaminey’, Priyanka Chopra is regularly using the social networking site ‘Twitter’ these days. The twitter page of the beautiful and gorgeous actress can be found on www.twitter.com/priyankachopra. It was Shahid Kapoor who introduced Priyanka to ‘Twitter’ advising her to use it in order to get in touch with her international fans and also to promote ‘Kaminey’. Now, Priyanka makes it a point to update her account at least once a day.
Though Shahid has been on ‘Twitter’ since last year but has become more active from April this year. Both Priyanka and Shahid were read discussing the release date of their movie. Where Priyanka has 10 members following her, Shahid Kapoor has around 3042.
Priyanka Chopra’s updates on ‘Twitter’ also express her feelings on the loss of Michael Jackson. It says, “I cannot believe it! MJ no more… He was the reason I started loving music. Thank you MJ the inspiration for all of us. The true king of pop.”

Ranbir Kapoor & Konkona Sen in ‘Wake Up Sid’

Having a most unusual pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ forthcoming venture ‘Wake Up Sid’ seems to awake much enthusiasm among the cinelovers. The movie is being directed by debutante Ayaan Mukherjee, who earlier was assistant director of Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.
Scheduled to release on October 2, 2009, the movie is based on the story of a handsome young boy (Ranbir Kapoor) who falls for an older and simple writer woman (Konkona Sen Sharma).Anupam Kher will be seen as father of Ranbir Kapoor.
This will be the first film produced by Dharma Productions that will be distributed worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures and not by Yash Raj Films, thus marking the end of the collaboration between Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films.

An exclusive look at ‘Sahib Biwi and Ghulam’

Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan had appeared together in ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ but the movie failed to create magic at the box-office. Now, the two stars are set to appear together again for ‘Sahib Biwi and Gulam’ which is being produced and directed by Rituparno Ghosh.
The movie tells the story of a wealthy zamindar and his beautiful wife. The zamindar is in habit of visiting brothels and kothas which leaves the wife lonely. Then there is a young man named Bhoot Nath who is hired as a servant to this zamindar. Bhootnath comes close to the lonely wife and both soon develop a platonic relationship. Then Bhootnath comes to know and feel his mistress’s loneliness and the life she is cursed to live.
The script definitely seems interesting and challenging. Meanwhile check out the exclusive poster from the movie.

The entertainment industry grieves at the loss of Michael Jackson

The music and glamour world suffered a grave loss in the late afternoon hours of this Thursday on the 25th of June as it witnessed the death of 50 years old legendary star Michael Jackson.
